What is my work? What I am doing in the community? I like to stay involved in local community activities. I am an active board member of Asian Business Association of Orange County and President-Elect for 2012, active member of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, and an active Rotarian - Rotary Club of Newport-Irvine. I am the current New Generations & Youth Services Director of my Rotary club. I was the Secretary of School Site Council at Turtle Rock Elementary School (2007-10) & Treasurer of Turtle Rock Elementary School PTA (2009-10). I was the Fine Master of Rotary Club of Newport-Irvine (2009-10), and participate in Rotary community activities for Olive Crest, SnowBall Express, Senior Meals, Woodbridge High School, UCI Rotaract, Uni High Interact, Irvine Senior & Youth Job Fairs, Camp Pendleton Marines & more. I mentored an aspiring young boy who wants to be an American Football star as part of America On Track Orange County MCP program, and mentor UC Irvine students building new startups. In the past, I was a basketball coach for my son's teams (three times), art master for my daughter's class, and technology adviser for the entire Fremont school district. I like to participate in philanthropy also. I believe in Non-violence, Peace, Kindness, Honesty, Humility, Not Hurting anyone, and active Community Service. Community Activities
In his spare time, Sanjay was a coach and mentor for his son’s Rancho middle school, NJB - IYBL, and Fremont NJB basketball teams. He volunteered as the Art Master for his daughter’s school, served as secretary of the Turtle Rock School Site Council for raising the performance of the elementary school students (2 years), and served as Treasurer of Turtle Rock School PTA (2009-2010). Sanjay is an active Rotarian - previous fine master, and member of Rotary Club of Newport-Irvine, and an active philanthropist. Recently, Sanjay was the appointed member by the Board of Education for the Technology Advisory Committee for the entire Fremont School District, and proposed a technology vision and plan for over 40,000 students (2006-2007). Sanjay was a Web 2.0 adviser for CSU Fullerton Extended Education program and member of Dean's Leadership Circle of University of California, Irvine. Sanjay is on the Board of Directors of Asian Business Association of Orange County, and member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE SoCal). Sanjay founded the non-profit Osteoporosis Foundation.

Sanjay, in his role as a product marketing leader, managed and drove complete product and marketing life cycles and achieved market leadership, and grew software product line revenue from launch to tens of million dollars in annual business. Sanjay helped Educomp, the leading e-Learning company in India, with it's U.S. product launch and strategy. Before WebEx, Sanjay worked in key product marketing and product management position at eComLive launching an innovative collaboration software product Visual Rendezvous that became the market leader in cross-platform collaboration, at IBM in strategic engineering and product roles in the PowerPC division, and at Honeywell Bull in key product & business assignments. Through his leadership experience at technology companies, Sanjay has developed a real understanding of what it takes to bring successful new innovations to market, and the correlationship of successful innovations on the business performance.

Education
Sanjay is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin in Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering / Computer Science emphasis) (Dean’s Honor Roll, Engineering Scholar, President’s Honor Roll at OU) in 1992, completed graduate coursework at Arizona State University for Masters in Computer Science in 1995, and achieved executive certification on Leading Management Teams (eCornell - Leading with operations, creativity & innovation) at Cornell University in 2006. Sanjay received the first position in the 50th William Lowell Putnam Math Competition, five states, in 1987-1988 at the University of Oklahoma (Sanjay started his undergrad at OU).

Political Views
Sanjay became a citizen of USA in 2008 to vote for President Obama and Vice President Biden, and is a moderate democrat ("I am a newcomer trying to figure out who does what and what local leadership stands for"). Sanjay has no political aspirations, and is not connected nor affiliated with any political organization. Sanjay enjoys debating and talking about current issues with openness, and has moderate views. Sanjay loves the democratic election process, and supports local community leaders who favor strong family values, education, health, safety & security, peace, honesty & openness, humility, and treat all citizens with respect (regardless of party affiliations). Hindu Values
Sanjay is a Vaishnav Hindu, and married to Jain Hindu. Sanjay met his wife at the University of Texas at Austin (yup, both of us were studying :) ). Sanjay respects non-violent and moderate religious beliefs of our friends and community. Sanjay believes in non-violence and peace, and treating everyone with respect, kindness, honesty, humility and calmness. Of course, my kids will attest that "Dad can get angry or mad on occasion when they fight, hit, misbehave, don't do homework, say bad words, or don't clean up their rooms"! My wife says that "she is always loud, and that it's okay for moms to be loud & get mad" I guess I am still learning this parenting & husband thing... :-) Sanjay resides with his wife and two growing children in Irvine, California.

"My father, Rotarian Bharat C. Dalal, Stanford MBA 1959, and founding professor at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and mother, Ashaben Dalal, inspired my sister and me to come to this great country USA in 1987. My father had the great opportunity to come to USA for education on a Rotary Foundation Scholarship in 1957. My parents were married in Washington D.C., but later went back to India to support their family.

My parents taught us to study and work hard, have a strong determination to succeed, and give back to the community. After doing well at the University of Oklahoma during my Freshman year (I was nominated for the President's award), I applied to the University of Texas at Austin for Electrical and Computer Engineering program for my sophomore year. When I was awarded the coveted EE scholarship (which also made me eligible for instate tuition), I transferred to my alma mater UT! I worked 20 hours weekly in the Macintosh computer laboratory to help students with their programming classes on the Mac, and help pay for my undergraduate education. I was later awarded the International Office scholarship in my senior year. I learned early on the value of great American college education earned through hard work, and am quite grateful to my professors and advisers.

I met my wife to be in Austin in 1989 (she was doing Accounting). I graduated from UT in 1992. I got married in 1993 - August 15 (which happens to be India's Independence Day - hey I lost my independence) in California. I did my graduate school at Arizona State University - Phoenix and Tempe (Computer Science). After spending 10 years in Silicon Valley from 1997 to 2007, we moved to Irvine, Orange County to settle down for the next 10 years (at the very least). I became a U.S. Citizen in 2008 to vote for the first time, and enjoy the freedom of a U.S. citizen!,

I believe that the U.S. economy will turn around slowly but surely, and grow during the next five years. As an entrepreneur, I look at glass as half-full, and have a positive spin and outlook on most things. I have realized that maintaining optimism, good health, passion, strong belief in one's self, and keeping faith in God are very important! I am inspired by my teams, friends and co-workers (great teams, partners and co-workers are what make you successful in both family and business). I do make many professional and personal mistakes! I am always learning from these mistakes, and try not to repeat them. I like to stay engaged and enjoy life's simple moments, and have fun time with family and friends.

"I am happy to write this letter of recommendation at the request of Sanjay Dalal. He has made it known to me that he seeks to partner with you in some business. My name is Vanessa Lewis; I am the President of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Turtle Rock Elementary. I have been working closely with Sanjay, Treasurer for the Turtle Rock PTA, for one year now.

As Treasurer of the PTA, Sanjay has shown consistency and reliability in his work and in his commitment. As our organization has an annual operating budget of only $167,000.00, it is critical that the financials are tediously minded. Sanjay has been exemplary in his keeping of our books and records. Sanjay demonstrates his attention to detail as he reviews the Check Request forms and the attached receipts. On three occasions, Sanjay was the one who found mixed receipts- current receipts with one or two dated prior to our fiscal year and thus could not be honored. His careful review saved our organization hundreds of dollars as these extra receipts were not rightfully our expenses to incur, and he avoided our organization being fined during audit. Sanjay has additionally displayed his flexibility and open-mindedness as he has engaged in tasks that certainly are not part of his job description- such as selling t-shirts at the opening of our Fall Festival, and coordinating with the Women’s National Basketball Association to create an incentive program for our PTA membership. Sanjay is without limits in his ingenuity as can be seen in his personal professional life and during Board meeting discussions.

I have had a wonderful experience working with Sanjay Dalal over the last year. He maintains professionalism and integrity that I can only respect and admire in him.
